Omron has launched the OL-450S, the first model in a new OL series of autonomous mobile robots. Unlike the existing LD, MD, and HD series, the OL-450S features an omni-directional drive and an integrated lifting plate, making it a purpose-built solution for cart and carrier transport.
A Different Kind of AMR
The LD, MD, and HD series are designed as flat-top platforms that carry payloads directly or accept top modules such as conveyors and lifters. The OL-450S takes a different approach. Its low-profile body drives underneath carts, roll cages, pallets, and trolleys, lifts them with an integrated plate, and transports them autonomously. The omni-directional drive enables lateral movement and in-place rotation, allowing the robot to navigate tight spaces that conventional differential-drive AMRs cannot.

Fleet Management
The OL-450S runs Omron FLOW Core, the onboard software platform that handles navigation, safety, and robot-level intelligence. Fleet-level coordination is managed by Omron Fleet Manager, which controls up to 100 mobile robots with different payloads and capabilities on a single system – the same server software used with the LD, MD, and HD series.
What This Means for Dimalog Customers
The OL-450S brings autonomous cart handling to facilities that have so far relied on forklifts or manual movement – without requiring fixed infrastructure changes. Dimalog is tracking the OL series closely and ready to discuss how it complements existing LD, MD, and HD deployments.
